Genesis Moments

You are now a few days into the new year. How are you holding up? Are you steady and focused? Worn and weary? Frustrated, yet hopeful? What is your state of mind? For that matter, how are you doing with regard to your resolutions and goals?

Just days ago, you rang in the new year with chants and cheers of well-wishes for family and friends. You were brimming with joyful anticipation. The new year represented the promise of more tomorrows. It offered you the chance to get whatever you did not get done last year done in this, your new year.

But uh oh…something happened.

You didn’t read that morning scripture.

Hmmm.

You failed to put down that Banana Cream Pie cupcake from Gigi’s Cupcakes.

Yikes!

You stopped short of taking that evening jog that you promised yourself you would do after you got home from work.

Oh no!

Whatever your uh oh was or is, I am here to cheer you on and encourage you and to tell you that you have a new genesis today! In fact, you have genesis moments every day, and they come by way of the LORD.

Whoo hoo!!!

What are Genesis Moments?
Genesis moments are your “get out of jail free card.” They are your “relax, relate, release” breath. They are your “pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again” moments. Thank you very much! They are all about you coming into a new beginning every single time you need it.

And isn’t that what it’s like for us as Christians? When we mess up for one reason or another and we repent of our sins, aren’t we granted a new genesis moment from the LORD?

Because of the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we are cleansed. We are whole. We are made new. Our slates, as it were, are cleansed. In other words, we are granted another chance at having a new beginning. This does not stop at baptism, but it goes on and on like a continual washing. And through that washing and cleansing, your new genesis moment comes. My new genesis moment comes. Not just every day, but every minute. Every second. Every time you or I have need. All we have to do is ask.

With all of this in mind, let me encourage you to begin celebrating the gift of genesis moments and the treasure of new beginnings in Christ. May you be blessed today as you walk in the freedom that comes with the fresh start of each new day. I pray you make today the day you begin writing a new chapter in your book of life.

A Genesis Affirmation
I am a new creation in Christ Jesus. Today is my genesis. I choose to start all over again. Tomorrow is gone. The uh oh is over. From this moment forward, I will start anew.
