A Mite “E” Lesson from a Widow’s Heart

The Widow’s Two Mites
“Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much. Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans. So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.’”– Mark 12:41-44

The story of the widow and her mites is one of the most well-known stories from the Bible. It tells the story of a lowly widow who gave all she had. In doing so, she not only demonstrated her true heart, but she also provided a lasting example regarding faith and trust in the LORD.

Questions to Consider:
1) Do you give the LORD all you have?
2) Why do you give (what is your heart motive)?
3) Do you trust the LORD to be Provider of your needs? Why or why not?
