Week 6: Experiencing the Love of Jesus

Lesson Emphasis: Where Love and Justice Meet (Day 1)

Reading Assignment: John 3:16-21

Meditate and Memorize: John 3:16-17 (The Voice)

Knowing and Feeling (Words from Max): “How can God punish the sin and love the sinner? How can He be just and love the sinner? How can He satisfy His standard and forgive…mistakes?

God is motivated to save us both because of His love for us and His responsibility to deal with sin. His grace is where love and justice meet to provide our salvation.

Many people live in fear of God’s justice because they have never reckoned His justice with His love. Grace is where the two meet together, forming an insoluble bond.”

The Heart…Matters (Lesson Summary): Without question, we know that God is a just God. He is a God who loves and does not forsake. He is a God who extends mercy to those whom He has created. He is a God who is not willing that any should perish. No, not even one. No sinner or saint is beyond His ability to save, and save He has indeed done by way of Jesus Christ. Because of who He is, we are afforded an opportunity to partake of His grace. (Translation: Because of His great love and His merciful justice, we have been saved through Christ our LORD.)

Question: Is there anything  – any person, any circumstance, any sin – that can keep God from loving you…or you from loving God?

Challenge: Do some research on what God’s justice means.
