A Phone Tree Bible Study Series| Experiencing the Heart of Jesus (Week 9)

The Sunday Bible Study Series – > featuring Experiencing the Heart of Jesus: Knowing His Heart, Feeling His Love by Max Lucado 403781

Week 9: Experiencing the Prayer of Jesus

Lesson Emphasis: The Chapel – Relying on God’s Power (Day 5)

Reading Assignment: Matthew 6:9-13

Meditate and Memorize: Matthew 6:13b

Knowing and Feeling (Words from Max): “If Jesus’ prayer teaches us anything, it teaches us to depend on God. No wonder Jesus concludes His prayer with this God’s exultation. [Thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever.]”

The Heart…Matters (Lesson Summary): All power is in God’s hand. If we believe this to be so, then why do we worry or fret over…anything? Nothing is higher than God. Nothing is more powerful than God. Nothing can overcome or overrule God. Knowing this should not only inspire us to believe even greater, but it should also empower us to live more boldly, walking out our faith in a radically outrageous way.

Prayer: Father, You are great. You are mighty and exalted! There is no one higher. Teach us to live as Christ lived. Lead us to Your heart, with every step being purposed in such a way that we might better understand and appreciate what relying on You – depending on You – is all about. In the name of the Savior. Amen.

Question: What does it mean to “rely on God’s power?” (Other: What does it look like to do so?)

Challenge: Go to your local library or Christian bookstore and secure a copy of Max Lucado’s book, The Great House of God. Read it and take note of your discoveries.
