Charis – God’s Scandalous Grace for Us (Table Talk, Week 1)

18405453Charis – God’s Scandalous Grace for Us: (A Quote from the Book): “Grace is more than just leniency and unconditional acceptance. Divine grace is God’s relentless and loving pursuit of His enemies, who are unthankful, unworthy, and unlovable. Grace is not just God’s ability to save sinners, but God’s stubborn delight in His enemies… Grace means that despite our filth, despite the sewage running through our veins, despite our odd addiction to food, drink, sex, porn, pride, self, money, comfort, and success, God desires to transform us into real ingredients of divine happiness. Grace is God’s aggressive pursuit of, and stubborn delight in, freakishly foul people.”

Table Talk: The grace that God extends to each one of us is far-reaching and extensive. It is hard to grasp, to explain, to understand, and yet it simply is. It goes on and on even when we feel we can’t. It surrounds us even when we feel it is undeserved.

Table Talk Discussion Question: How has God revealed His amazing grace toward you?

Table Talk Charis Challenge: Reflect on your life, past to present, and list every instance that you can think of when God has shown you His infinite grace.

Prayer: Father, Your grace-love astounds us. It baffles us in a most profound way. Help us to no longer be blind to all the ways that You manifest it. Help us to appreciatively receive it and also to extend it to others. In the name of the Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
