Week 5: The “Dew” and the “Do” of Heaven

Summary: As we go through life from day-to-day, many of us tend to forget about God. I suppose a better way to say it is that we take Him for granted. We tend to expect Him to show up or to be there just because. By doing so, we inadvertently stop seeking Him out or even communicating with Him. We take His heart, His favor, His provision, His power too lightly. But the unconditional love and infinite grace of the Father are such that they work as He intends and they do so by calling our attention to the miraculous.

From Priscilla to Us:

“You, sister, are a ‘Baal fighter’ like Gideon. Your life and mine are to be proof that Yahweh exists and is not only able but willing to intervene in our lives in personal, miraculous ways. Fight the spirit of Baal, my friend, by ‘let[ing] your requests be made known to God’ (Phil. 4:6). Let the dew of heaven reinvigorate you and inspire you to stand against this deceiving spirit in your family, church, and community. Then, like Gideon, prepare to be astounded at all that your God will ‘do’ for you.”

This Week’s Assignment:

1) Do some background research on Baalism. Compare and contrast the ancient religious practices with modern culture.

2) “Are there any areas of your life that you no longer talk to God about because you feel like ‘that’s just the way things are’? If so, what areas are they?” (See page 112)

3) Read the lesson material from Week 5 in your member book. (Week 5, Day 4 – Weary, Yet Pursuing – will be featured in next week’s post.)

4) Sit down with God and really talk to Him.
